LNAA History

In 1946, the Lehigh Airport Authority became the first airport Authority in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by the Cities of Allentown and Bethlehem (Lehigh County).

Just two years later, The City of Easton and Northampton County joined the Authority creating the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).

Owner and operator of Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) since 1948, the Airport Authority acquired Queen City Airport (XLL) in (Allentown) and Braden Airpark (N43) (Forks Township) in 2000 which officially formed the current Lehigh Valley Airport System.

Within the region, LNAA serves as a significant transportation resource to Eastern Pennsylvania, providing valuable services to industries including: tourism, cargo and distribution centers and business development.

The Airport Authority receives NO federal, state or local tax dollars for operation. Instead, the Airport Authority relies on airline and user fees, additionally receiving assistance from State and Federal grants.
