On Tuesday, March 26th, the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA) Board of Governors approved approximately $1.1 million of capital improvement projects at Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE). Below is a list of projects:

Escalator Repairs in the Wilfred M. “Wiley” Post Departure Concourse – up to $250,000 approval to Schindler Group (Allentown) for necessary maintenance repairs on escalators 11 & 12.  Both escalators are twenty-two (22) years old and have been non-operational numerous times in the last five months.

Passenger Boarding Bridge Repairs – Bid award of $784,735.00 to Ameribridge, LLC (Indianapolis, IN) – this 3-year contract includes upgrading and performing necessary maintenance for 8 boarding bridges. These repairs are vital to ensuring safety and efficiency, while providing the highest level of customer service. The majority of the bridges at ABE were purchased in 1997, with two (2) being from 2005.

Air Carrier Apron Markings – Bid award of $91,225.00 to Axtell’s, Inc (Jermyn, PA) for  implementation of a common use pavement striping system at Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) which will improve safety and operational efficiency for airlines and their ground handling personnel when servicing aircraft. The striping system ensures each aircraft gate includes the same safety and operational parameters to maintain consistency and ease of use.

“We continue our focus on infrastructure reinvestment with these projects in order to ensure the Airport can fulfill its mission of operating safe and efficient facilities that provide a first class customer experience to our passengers and stakeholders,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).
