After 15 years, the Long-Term and Short-Term Rates will increase in October
(Hanover Township, PA) – On Tuesday, August 27th, the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA) Board of Governors unanimously approved a parking rate adjustment for the Short-Term and Long-Term/Overflow Parking Lots at Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE).
The last modification of ABE parking rates occurred in 2009.
During the monthly meeting, results of a Parking Rate Analysis conducted by Airport Design Consultants (ADCI) and Walker Parking Consultants were presented by Cedrick Johnson, President, ADCI.
“Across the country, ABE is among the many airports addressing their current parking rate structure in 2024, due to a lack of change over the last five to fifteen years,” said Johnson.
Airports listed among this national parking rate trend included: Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI), Dallas/Forth Worth International Airport (DFW), Indianapolis International Airport (IND), Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN), Palm Beach International Airport (PBI), Phoenix/Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV), and Tri-Cities Airport (TRI).
The following rate adjustments will take effect on or after October 1, 2024:
Short-Term Lot:
Long-Term/Overflow Lot:
“There were more aggressive alternatives for rate adjustments that were suggested by the consultant team, but the Airport stressed the importance of balance between generating additional revenue to reinvest within our parking infrastructure while not placing a financial burden on ABE passengers,” said Johnson.
During the last several years, the LNAA invested over $3.1 million to complete infrastructure projects related to public parking lot improvements and terminal roadway maintenance for enhanced customer service.
“Moving forward with higher passenger volumes at ABE, it’s imperative that the Airport Authority continues planning and investing in projects that address public parking capacity, expansion of terminal roadway access, and the implementation of additional parking lot shuttle services to meet the growing needs of the region,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, LNAA.
