Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) announces flights to Dulles

(Hanover Township, PA) – Is Washington, D.C. your next destination?

On Tuesday, October 20th, Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) announced the arrival of nonstop service to Dulles International Airport (IAD) aboard United Airlines starting on December 17, 2020.  Flights will operate twice daily with the following schedule:

Departing from ABE:

8:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.

Arriving at ABE:

12:11 p.m. and 6:50 p.m.

“During a time of great uncertainty throughout the aviation industry, this news injects an immediate jolt of positive energy to air travelers in the Lehigh Valley region,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).

This announcement increases flight options provided by United at ABE which currently include Chicago (O’Hare) and Newark (via the United shuttle).

“This new service will give United fliers convenient access between the Lehigh Valley area and the nation’s capital, along with greater connectivity to more destinations,” said Eddie Gordon, managing director of United’s Washington Dulles International Airport. “Dulles remains a gateway for travelers, and we look forward to continuing to welcome our customers to, and connect them through, IAD as we expand and rebuild our network from the Washington D.C. region.”

Last year, Lehigh Valley International Airport experienced its highest passenger traffic volume since 2004 – 911,970. The COVID-19 pandemic interrupted the continued surge of air travelers using ABE in 2020.

“Dulles remained on our target list, as this service had success at ABE in the past. Beyond the leisure or business travel, the opportunity for more connectivity via United Airlines continues to  showcase your neighborhood airport’s role as a growing transportation asset,” said Stoudt.
