It’s a Summer Travel Record

October 1st, 2024 |

Nearly 300,000 passengers fly through ABE from June – August

(Hanover Township, PA) – Since the start of the 2024 summer travel season,
over 297,000 passengers have traveled through Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) – the largest three-month surge on record for the Airport.

“Summer is always the busiest time of the year for ABE. But, that annual bump in activity was amplified further this season with higher airline seat capacity within the market and the arrival of new destinations,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).

In August, 96,460 passengers used ABE – a 15.5% increase from August 2023.

“While the buzz around the terminal is a great indicator of more passenger volume, the statistics provide strong evidence of ABE’s increased activity with nine of the Top 10 busiest days ever for our TSA Checkpoint occurring in June, July, and August of this year,” said Stoudt.

Welcome, Which Wich

ABE and Tailwind Hospitality, Inc. are excited to celebrate the grand opening of another new food and beverage concession option for our passengers – Which Wich®.

ABE passengers can enjoy this delicious option with loads of signature sandwiches, wraps, or bowls, and even build your own options in the Wilfred M. “Wiley” Post, Jr. Concourse.

“We’re not finished improving the customer experience, as construction on Zekraft – a familiar local food establishment to Lehigh Valley residents – and a new Marketplace to replace the current gift shop are both underway,” said Stoudt.

Moving Freight

20,030,579 pounds of air cargo was processed through Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) in August – a decrease of 12.9% from August 2023.
