73,192 passengers traveled through ABE in May
(Hanover Township, PA) – Fresh off celebrating the inaugural flight of nonstop service to Denver, Colorado aboard Allegiant Air last week, Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) is riding momentum into the summer season.
“ABE hasn’t offered connectivity this far west of the Mississippi since 2006. There’s been plenty of buzz in the community and its’ been an extremely popular ticket since the announcement by Allegiant Air with approximately 7,000 reservations already booked,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).
In May, 73,192 passengers traveled through ABE.

By the numbers, United increased 7.2%. American decreased 5.5%, Allegiant dropped 10.6%, and Delta passenger traffic declined 31.5% from last May.
Here are some travel tips to remember:
- Give yourself extra time to process through the TSA Checkpoint
- Visit TSA.gov or @askTSA with any general questions or to arrange travel with special circumstances
- If you are traveling with children, double-check their carry-on bags to ensure there aren’t any prohibited items
- Passengers under the age of 18 years-old do not need travel identification if accompanied by a companion
- Boarding begins 30 to 45-minutes prior to departure
- Checked bags will not be accepted less than 30-minutes before departure
“We continue to encourage air travelers to stay engaged with their airport and airline information due to increased activity at TSA Checkpoints during the summer vacation season,” said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA).
22,684,265 pounds of air cargo was processed through Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) in May – an increase of 36.2% from May 2022.
