Allentown, PA – It’s getting a lot easier for passengers to refill and rehydrate at Lehigh Valley International Airport.

On March 22, Easton Hospital and LVIA are celebrating “World Water Day” by unveiling (2) water bottle refill stations and dump stations located in the Main Terminal and Wiley Departure.

Passengers will receive a “free” water bottle courtesy of Easton Hospital from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This new partnership and amenity addition is the latest step by the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority to create a “green” environment throughout the Terminal.

“These refill stations should impact the number of water bottles thrown away as passengers process through security which will in turn protect the environment,” said Charles Everett, Executive Director, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) liquids ban forces travelers to dump water/beverage before passing through a screening checkpoint. During this process, most passengers dispose of their plastic bottles. By adding these stations, passengers can hold onto their empty bottle/container and have a convenient way to immediately refill at designated water bottle refill stations.

“Easton Hospital is excited to partner with LVIA,” says Stephen Wilson, Vice President of Marketing. “As a care provider, we know the little things matter in the patient journey. Losing a water bottle matters to travelers. Staying hydrated matters as well. And supporting environmental initiatives is important to us all. We hope business travelers and vacationers arriving and departing from LVIA fill up and enjoy the benefits of good hydration.”

Last year, the Airport Authority announced the “Recycling is Responsible” program by unveiling brand new recycling receptacles and providing additional disposal areas in the Main Terminal, Wiley Terminal, TSA and Baggage This recycling initiative reemphasizes a strong commitment to increase attention on the responsibility of protecting and cleaning-up the environment.

World Water Day is an annual event celebrated on March 22. The day is meant to inspire people around the world to learn more about water related issues, tell others about these issues and take action to make a difference, particularly in developing countries affected by the global water crisis.
